    The Third SWUFE – CDAR Symposium was Successfully Held

    From October 30 to November 1, 2020, "The Third SWUFE – CDAR Symposium, co-organized by Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), Consortium for Data Analytics in Risk (CDAR) and Local Financial Supervision and Administration Bureau of Chengdu, was successfully held. Experts and scholars from banks, funds, exchanges, Fintech enterprises and other industries as well as leading universities at home and abroad gathered together. Chinese financial theories and practitioners issued the "Chinese voice" of Fintech to the world at the Symposium. Professor PENG Long, vice president of SWUFE and Professor YIN Qingshang, vice president of SWUFE attended relevant activities.

    Since early of 2020, the outbreak of COVID-19 has brought unprecedented uncertaintyand great challenges to the global market. The economic downward pressure caused by the epidemic continuously hit the stability of employment, finance, society and international relationships. Governments are striving to keep the balance between economic development and epidemic prevention. In the context of this issue, SWUFE & CDAR 2020 will focus on the positive role of the Fintech during the pandemic outbreak, bring together academic and industry cross-cutting experts in finance and technology with government and regulatory leaders to discuss how to promote recovery of the global economy in this post-pandemic era and look into the future development of Fintech.

    On30thOctober, Professor YIN Qingshuang, vice president delivered a speech mentioned that in recent years, SWUFE has been in the top 1% of ESI's disciplines in the world by accurately connecting with the world's first-class Fintech and financial risk management academia and industry resources. The university will continue to strengthen personnel training, deepen cooperation with the financial industry, and continue to promote the common development of the university and the industry.

    Professor Chang-Tai Hsieh from the University of Chicago, Mr. PAN Zhijiang from Digital China, Professor Qing Wu from China Orient Asset Management delivered keynote speeches and shared the latest academic research results, analyzed the reform and development trend of "Fintech" under the new situation in a multi-dimensional manner as well as promoted the mutual integration and promotion of science and technology and finance.

    Thesymposium also held industry sharing and round tables, focusing on hot topics such as fintech and industry, fintech and financial market, artificial intelligence and credit risk, finance and big data, fintech and industry opportunities. Experts and scholars in related fields had in-depth discussions and exchanges with industry leaders.

    Profess PENG Long, executive vice president of SWUFE, delivered a speech at the forum on 31st, saying that this Symposium brings together the world's top wisdom and makes a comprehensive survey of the development of Fintech from a global perspective. We hope to lead the research frontier of Fintech in this way, give full play to the positive role of Fintech, and promote the real return of finance to serve the origin of real economy. This will certainly help the construction of Chengdu’s new economic system and the western financial center, as well as the construction of SWUFE as a world-class discipline with Chinese characteristics.

    Mr. LIANG Qizhou, head of Chengdu’s Local Financial Supervision and Administration Bureau, introduced the city's financial situation in his speech at a time when Chengdu is striving to become a financial technology center with global influence. It can be predicted that the growth point of global finance in the future will be Fintech, and the focus of competition among financial centers will also be Fintech. Chengdu has great potential for development.

    Professor George Akerlof, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2001、Professor Barry Eichengreen from UC Berkeley, Distinguished Economist Professor WU Xiaoqiu and the Chief Engineer of Shenzhen Stock Exchange Mrs YU Hualidelivered keynote speeches focusing on the new direction, trend and model of fintech development, promoting the innovative and open development of fintech, enabling the recovery of the real economy and the global economy, and driving a new pattern of development at a higher level.

    2020 SWUFE – CDAR Symposium embraces the world in an open, inclusive, cooperative and win-win manner. For the first time, we adopted the mode of "online + offline" and carried out a series of wonderful activities. The Forum was a great success with seminars, main conferences, roundtables, Fintech exhibitions and keynote lectures.
