    The Third Fintech 80 Chengdu Hackathon was successfully Held

    From Oct.26thto Nov. 1st, as one of the International Fintech-SWUFE & CDAR 2020 series activities, the Fintech 80 Chengdu Hackathon co-sponsored by SWUFE, the Consortium for Data Analytics in Risk (CDAR) of UC Berkeley, Chengdu Jiaozi Financial Holding Group Co., Ltd and Fintech Innovation Center of SWUFE was held in SWUFE.ZENG Daorong, Vice Chairman of the University Council of the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, and MA Honglin, member of the party committee and deputy general manager of Chengdu Jiaozi Financial Holding Group, addressed the final.

    The contestants are excellent students in the world-class universities. In the final, after 80 hours of intense preparation, the National University of Singapore won the "Pioneer" award, with the University of Zurich, and the SWUFE winning the "Leader" award, while the Tsinghua University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Southern University of Science and Technology, University of Hong Kong and Chongqing University won the "Innovator" award.

    In the speech before the final, ZENG Daorong emphasized that first-class fintech talents cultivation is the cornerstone of the financial industry development and prosperity. He hoped that through the activities such as Fintech 80 Chengdu, the quality of talent training would be improved with the promotion of the world first-class discipline construction with Chinese characteristics in Southwestern University of Finance and Economics and would bring inspirations and contributions to the global fintech development. MA Honglin introduced the current situations of fintech in Chengdu. He wished the global fintech elites could arouse creative potentials, explore state-of-the-art technologies and reshape the financial ecological pattern via the competition.

    On the occasion of the global pandemic, Fintech 80 Chengdu was held online for the first time. Each team, given the same topic, should complete a project development within 80 hours with the server and resources provided on a cloud platform. At the end of the development session, the teams should perform remote presentations, and a panel of professional judges from academia and industry would evaluate the projects and announce the winners.

    Fintech 80 Chengdu Hackathon builds up a platform for contestants to interact with the leading scholars in the field of finance, technology, and the government. The brand-new designs are scientific-based, cutting-edge and forward-looking. The products realize the combination of theory and practice, directing the fintech applications and enriching the financial ecological system.

    The first Fintech Startup Exhibition was launched this year. Fintech enterprises, such as XWBank, and research institutions from the industry were invited. Moreover, teachers and students from middle schools in Sichuan province were invited for the first time to watch the final of Fintech 80 Chengdu competition and visit the Fintech Startup Exhibition.
